The marketing claim
“Heavy-duty grime, grease and old wax remover for stone and tiles”
The chemical reality
Not a patio biocide (BAC/DDAC) and not brick acid. LTP’s 2025 SDS lists tetrapotassium pyrophosphate (~1–3%) with glycol ether and a little ammonia — a phosphate-builder scrub for grease and old wax. TKPP crystals at about 20 g/L match the bottle’s builder strength; then dilute as the pack does.

The Marketing Claim & The Catch
A 5 litres pack of LTP Grimex Intensive Cleaner typically retails around £33.00 in patio & exterior. That is a UK shelf-price snapshot for the maths on this page — not a live shop quote or a manufacturer RRP. Listings, sizes and deals move. The marketing line is that you are buying a finished lifestyle product, not a weighed chemical.
On the pack: Heavy-duty grime, grease and old wax remover for stone and tiles; Interior and exterior paving, driveways and terracotta; and Intensive cleaner before resealing.

Proprietary Blend & Dosage Breakdown
The labelled active is Tetrapotassium pyrophosphate (TKPP) at 2%. Everything else in the pack is water, dipropylene glycol methyl ether, non-ionic surfactant and dilute ammonia.
At 2% active, most of what you pay for is carrier and packaging. The brand is selling convenience, fragrance and a label — not a uniquely potent molecule.
Branded working strength is whatever comes out of the bottle. The bulk alternative is 100% Tetrapotassium pyrophosphate (TKPP), mixed to 20 g/L (≈ bottle builder strength), then 1:5–1:20 for light wash.

The Active Chemical Alternative (Dupe Stack)
The dupe stack is Tetrapotassium pyrophosphate (TKPP) at 100% bulk. Indexed as CAS 7320-34-5, formula K4P2O7. Buy it as 1 kg for around £14.00 from Amazon UK.
Working strength: 20 g/L (≈ bottle builder strength), then 1:5–1:20 for light wash. Indicative cost £0.28 per diluted litre — 86% below a typical branded pack on a per-litre basis, before you reuse leftover bulk.
Follow the mixing method and the supplier SDS. Wear the listed PPE. Do not mix incompatible oxidisers, acids or ammonia.
- Eye irritant / alkaline scrub. Nitrile gloves and splash goggles. Work outdoors. Always add powder to water. Never mix with bleach or acids.
- Dissolve 20 g of TKPP per litre of warm water to land near the branded concentrate’s phosphate-builder band (SDS ≥1–<3% TKPP).
- Light maintenance: dilute that liquor 1:10–1:20, mop or brush, rinse. Heavy grime / old wax: use nearer neat liquor, scrub, rinse thoroughly. Neutralise residual alkalinity with a water rinse before resealing.
- Optional: a small measured dose of dipropylene glycol methyl ether improves grease cut — only if you have that SDS and PPE.
- 1 kg at 20 g/L makes 50 litres of bottle-strength liquor. Keep off polished soft metals if unsure; test a tile first.

Active ingredient and cheaper alternative — FAQ
Is Grimex the same as Patio Magic or KilrockPRO?
No. Patio Magic is BAC for algae film. KilrockPRO is metasilicate for oily concrete. Grimex is a TKPP / glycol-ether stone scrub for grime and old wax before resealing. Different job, different salt (CAS 7320-34-5).
Does the DIY stack include the ammonia and glycol ether?
The weighable unique builder is TKPP. The branded jerry also carries dipropylene glycol methyl ether and dilute ammonia. For heavy grease you can add a splash of DPGME / ‘Dowanol’-type glycol ether to the TKPP liquor — read that SDS too. Do not mix with bleach or acids.
How do you mix the Grimex Intensive Cleaner dupe stack?
Eye irritant / alkaline scrub. Nitrile gloves and splash goggles. Work outdoors. Always add powder to water. Never mix with bleach or acids. Dissolve 20 g of TKPP per litre of warm water to land near the branded concentrate’s phosphate-builder band (SDS ≥1–<3% TKPP). Light maintenance: dilute that liquor 1:10–1:20, mop or brush, rinse. Heavy grime / old wax: use nearer neat liquor, scrub, rinse thoroughly. Neutralise residual alkalinity with a water rinse before resealing. Optional: a small measured dose of dipropylene glycol methyl ether improves grease cut — only if you have that SDS and PPE. 1 kg at 20 g/L makes 50 litres of bottle-strength liquor. Keep off polished soft metals if unsure; test a tile first.
