The marketing claim
“Kills greenfly, blackfly, caterpillars and beetles”
The chemical reality
Provanto Ultimate Bug Killer is deltamethrin at 15 g/L in a 30 ml garden-centre bottle. Half a millilitre per litre outdoors lands at about 7.5 mg/L — the same pyrethroid as a 1 L amenity pack of that 15 g/L emulsion. It is not permethrin ant dust, not SB soft soap, and it is very toxic to aquatic life and bees when spray is wet.

The Marketing Claim & The Catch
A 30 millilitres pack of Provanto Ultimate Bug Killer Concentrate typically retails around £8.99 in lawn & garden. That is a UK shelf-price snapshot for the maths on this page — not a live shop quote or a manufacturer RRP. Listings, sizes and deals move. The marketing line is that you are buying a finished lifestyle product, not a weighed chemical.
On the pack: Kills greenfly, blackfly, caterpillars and beetles; Protects for up to four weeks; and 30 ml makes up to 60 litres.

Proprietary Blend & Dosage Breakdown
The labelled active is Deltamethrin at 1.5%. Everything else in the pack is oil-in-water emulsion with solvents.
At 1.5% active, most of what you pay for is carrier and packaging. The brand is selling convenience, fragrance and a label — not a uniquely potent molecule.
Branded working strength is whatever comes out of the bottle. The bulk alternative is 1.5% Deltamethrin 15 g/L emulsion concentrate, mixed to 0.5 ml in 1 L water (outdoor Provanto band; 1 ml/L indoors).

The Active Chemical Alternative (Dupe Stack)
The dupe stack is Deltamethrin 15 g/L emulsion concentrate at 1.5% bulk. Indexed as CAS 52918-63-5, formula C22H19Br2NO3. Buy it as 1 litre for around £39.99 from Amazon UK.
Working strength: 0.5 ml in 1 L water (outdoor Provanto band; 1 ml/L indoors). Indicative cost £0.02 per diluted litre — 82% below a typical branded pack on a per-litre basis, before you reuse leftover bulk.
Follow the mixing method and the supplier SDS. Wear the listed PPE. Do not mix incompatible oxidisers, acids or ammonia.
- Pesticide: very toxic to aquatic life. Read the MAPP label on the pack you buy. Gloves, goggles. Spray at dusk if bees are foraging; keep off ponds, water butts and fish tanks.
- Outdoor (except raspberry beetle): 0.5 ml of 15 g/L deltamethrin emulsion per litre of water. Indoor / greenhouse: 1 ml per litre. Raspberry beetle: 0.8 ml per litre on the labelled crops.
- Spray both leaf faces until glistening. Do not exceed the labelled number of applications or harvest interval. Keep pets off until dry.
- 1 litre of 15 g/L concentrate at 0.5 ml/L makes about 2,000 litres of outdoor spray — many 30 ml garden-centre bottles.
- Buy amateur-labelled 15 g/L deltamethrin a householder can legally apply. Do not invent a stronger mix from agricultural EC. Triple-rinse the sprayer; never share it with herbicides without a thorough wash.

Active ingredient and cheaper alternative — FAQ
Is this the same as Nippon ant powder?
Same broad family (pyrethroid insecticides) but different molecules and jobs. Nippon powder is permethrin dust (CAS 52645-53-1) for ant runs. Provanto is deltamethrin (CAS 52918-63-5) as a foliar spray. Never put bug-killer concentrate on skin or in an ant puffer.
Is this Provanto Fungus Fighter?
No. Fungus Fighter is tebuconazole — a triazole fungicide. Ultimate Bug Killer is deltamethrin. Different pests, different HSE numbers, different PPE.
