The marketing claim
“Glyphosate-free — visible results in hours”
The chemical reality
Resolva Xpress 24H RTU is pelargonic acid (nonanoic acid, CAS 112-05-0) at about 31 g/L — a contact fatty-acid desiccant, not glyphosate. Classic Resolva 24H is a different bottle (glyphosate). 170 ml of 186.7 g/L concentrate made up to 1 litre matches the trigger strength.

The Marketing Claim & The Catch
A 1 litre pack of Resolva Xpress 24H Ready to Use Weedkiller typically retails around £5.99 in lawn & garden. That is a UK shelf-price snapshot for the maths on this page — not a live shop quote or a manufacturer RRP. Listings, sizes and deals move. The marketing line is that you are buying a finished lifestyle product, not a weighed chemical.
On the pack: Glyphosate-free — visible results in hours; Kills by contact; non-hazardous to bees; and Annual and perennial weeds and grasses.
The catch: Resolva Xpress 24H RTU is pelargonic acid (nonanoic acid, CAS 112-05-0) at about 31 g/L — a contact fatty-acid desiccant, not glyphosate. Classic Resolva 24H is a different bottle (glyphosate). 170 ml of 186.7 g/L concentrate made up to 1 litre matches the trigger strength.

Proprietary Blend & Dosage Breakdown
The labelled active is Pelargonic acid (nonanoic acid) at 3.3%. Everything else in the pack is water (ammonium salt) with a little isopropanol.
At 3.3% active, most of what you pay for is carrier and packaging. The brand is selling convenience, fragrance and a label — not a uniquely potent molecule.
Branded working strength is whatever comes out of the bottle. The bulk alternative is 18.9% Pelargonic acid 186.7 g/L weedkiller concentrate, mixed to 170 ml concentrate made up to 1 L (Xpress RTU band).

The Active Chemical Alternative (Dupe Stack)
The dupe stack is Pelargonic acid 186.7 g/L weedkiller concentrate at 18.9% bulk. Indexed as CAS 112-05-0, formula C9H18O2. Buy it as 1 litre for around £16.99 from Amazon UK.
Working strength: 170 ml concentrate made up to 1 L (Xpress RTU band). Indicative cost £2.89 per diluted litre — 50% below a typical branded pack on a per-litre basis, before you reuse leftover bulk.
Follow the mixing method and the supplier SDS. Wear the listed PPE. Do not mix incompatible oxidisers, acids or ammonia.
- Pesticide: read the HSE/MAPP label on the concentrate you buy. Gloves, long sleeves. Contact herbicide — it scorches any green tissue it hits, including grass and garden plants.
- Measure 170 ml of 186.7 g/L pelargonic concentrate and make up to 1 litre with water in a labelled sprayer — about 32 g/L, matching the Xpress RTU.
- Spray dry foliage until glistening. Apply about 100 ml of working spray per m². Repeat at 2–4 weeks if regrowth appears. Keep off ponds and drains.
- 1 litre of concentrate makes about 5.9 litres of RTU-strength spray — roughly six 1 L trigger bottles.
- Shop around: some DIY sheds price the concentrate so high the RTU wins. Buy a householder-labelled 18.9% pelargonic pack. Triple-rinse the sprayer; this is not glyphosate and not a selective lawn weedkiller.

Active ingredient and cheaper alternative — FAQ
Is this the same as Weedol Pathclear?
No. Pathclear is glyphosate — a systemic herbicide that moves into roots. Xpress 24H is pelargonic acid, a contact burn-down. Different persistence, different HSE numbers. Do not treat them as interchangeable.
Is Resolva 24H the same as Xpress 24H?
Often not. Classic Resolva 24H Ready to Use is glyphosate (around 8.4 g/L). Xpress / Xtra Fast is pelargonic. Read the SDS, not the ‘24H’ on the cap.
How do you mix the Xpress 24H Ready to Use Weedkiller dupe stack?
