The marketing claim
“Kills weeds, not lawns”
The chemical reality
Current Weedol Lawn (MAPP 17599) is MCPA at about 53.4 g/L plus fluroxypyr 10.7 g/L and clopyralid 5.4 g/L — a three-way selective turf herbicide, not Doff’s mecoprop-P/dicamba pair and not Pathclear glyphosate. A 1 L amateur pack of that same three-way is the working spray without the 500 ml carton tax.

The Marketing Claim & The Catch
A 500 millilitres pack of Weedol Lawn Weedkiller Concentrate typically retails around £14.99 in lawn & garden. That is a UK shelf-price snapshot for the maths on this page — not a live shop quote or a manufacturer RRP. Listings, sizes and deals move. The marketing line is that you are buying a finished lifestyle product, not a weighed chemical.
On the pack: Kills weeds, not lawns; Kills dandelions, daisies and clover; and 500 ml treats up to 333 m².

Proprietary Blend & Dosage Breakdown
The labelled active is MCPA, fluroxypyr and clopyralid at 7%. Everything else in the pack is water (micro-emulsion).
At 7% active, most of what you pay for is carrier and packaging. The brand is selling convenience, fragrance and a label — not a uniquely potent molecule.
Branded working strength is whatever comes out of the bottle. The bulk alternative is 7% MCPA 53.4 g/L + fluroxypyr 10.7 g/L + clopyralid 5.4 g/L lawn concentrate, mixed to 15 ml in 1 L water (sprayer; 10 m²) or 15 ml in 5 L (can; 10 m²).

The Active Chemical Alternative (Dupe Stack)
The dupe stack is MCPA 53.4 g/L + fluroxypyr 10.7 g/L + clopyralid 5.4 g/L lawn concentrate at 7% bulk. Indexed as CAS 94-74-6 / 69377-81-7 / 1702-17-6, formula C9H9ClO3 + C7H5Cl2FN2O3 + C6H3Cl2NO2. Buy it as 1 litre for around £19.99 from Amazon UK.
Working strength: 15 ml in 1 L water (sprayer; 10 m²) or 15 ml in 5 L (can; 10 m²). Indicative cost £0.30 per diluted litre — 33% below a typical branded pack on a per-litre basis, before you reuse leftover bulk.
Follow the mixing method and the supplier SDS. Wear the listed PPE. Do not mix incompatible oxidisers, acids or ammonia.
- Pesticide: read the HSE/MAPP label on the bottle you buy. Gloves, long sleeves. Keep spray off flowers, vegetables, ponds and water butts.
- Sprayer: 15 ml of the 53.4 / 10.7 / 5.4 g/L three-way concentrate in 1 litre of water covers about 10 m². Watering can: the same 15 ml in 5 litres covers the same 10 m² — more water, same active.
- Apply on a still, dry day when weeds are growing (typically April–September). Keep pets off until dry. Do not treat new lawns. Maximum applications as on the label.
- 1 litre of concentrate at 15 ml per 10 m² treats about 667 m² — two 500 ml Weedol cartons.
- Buy amateur-labelled MCPA/fluroxypyr/clopyralid a householder can legally apply. This is not mecoprop-P/dicamba (Doff / Weedol LN) and not glyphosate. Triple-rinse the sprayer; compost the first four mowings before using as mulch.

Active ingredient and cheaper alternative — FAQ
Is this the same as Doff Concentrated Lawn Weedkiller?
Same job (daisies and dandelions in grass), different actives. Doff is mecoprop-P plus dicamba. This Weedol Lawn bottle is MCPA (CAS 94-74-6), fluroxypyr (CAS 69377-81-7) and clopyralid (CAS 1702-17-6). Weedol LN Conc is the Doff pair — read the MAPP number, not the word Lawn.
Is this the same as Weedol Pathclear?
No. Pathclear is glyphosate for paths and bare ground — it will kill the grass. This concentrate is a selective lawn herbicide. Do not treat them as interchangeable.
How do you mix the Lawn Weedkiller Concentrate dupe stack?
Pesticide: read the HSE/MAPP label on the bottle you buy. Gloves, long sleeves. Keep spray off flowers, vegetables, ponds and water butts. Sprayer: 15 ml of the 53.4 / 10.7 / 5.4 g/L three-way concentrate in 1 litre of water covers about 10 m². Watering can: the same 15 ml in 5 litres covers the same 10 m² — more water, same active. Apply on a still, dry day when weeds are growing (typically April–September). Keep pets off until dry. Do not treat new lawns. Maximum applications as on the label. 1 litre of concentrate at 15 ml per 10 m² treats about 667 m² — two 500 ml Weedol cartons. Buy amateur-labelled MCPA/fluroxypyr/clopyralid a householder can legally apply. This is not mecoprop-P/dicamba (Doff / Weedol LN) and not glyphosate. Triple-rinse the sprayer; compost the first four mowings before using as mulch.
